The forest area of Karnali province covers (34.98) percent of the total land area. There are 11 division forest offices and 2 land and watershed management offices under this directorate.
Currently, the Provincial Forest Directorate has been regularly monitoring the annual programs of various 11 Division Forest Offices and 2 Land and Watershed Management Offices under Karnali Province.

Provincial Forest Directorate, Surkhet carries out the following activities related to the forest sector targeting the programs conducted by the subordinate district offices and various projects related to forestry.

To monitor and inspect the development programs run by the offices under the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Karnali Province within the province.

To coordinate with the projects, projects and other non-governmental organizations that work in the province-based forestry, vegetation, land conservation, forest research and small industries related to forestry and make the program effective.

Assisting in the formulation of policies related to the forest sector to be made at the central level, state level, and local level.

Supporting sustainable management with local participation in the forest sector by performing a coordinating role with the local level and state government.
